The first trials to produce Seriola dumerili fingerlings were made in Futuna at the end of 2012. Futuna produced thousand fingerlings of this specie which were distributed at the size of 500 grams to aquariums and research institutions in Spain.
In 2013 Futuna decided to start the industrial production of this specie. The results were very promising, achieving the first commercial sales to sea cages farmers. 12.000 fingerlings (15 grams) were distributed to Mediterranean companies in order to carry grow out trials.
Due to the good results obtained during last year, the plan for 2014 is to produce and to distribute fingerlings of this specie in several countries around the Mediterranean.
